book review: get inspired with max

Board books are everywhere in our apartment and most follow the same general story: a little iambic pentameter, ABAB rhyme scheme, and anthropomorphic animals named Mr. and Mrs. 

In reality, of course, they are a lot more fun than that, but if not everyone knows I was an English major, what good is this blog?

Anyway, a few weeks ago, I was sent the above book, which, while still very much a children's story, has a bit of an ulterior motive. But not like, a comic book villain one. Instead, the authors call these stories "self-help books for toddlers." Before you roll your eyes: the idea is that kids will learn positive life lessons while reading an otherwise engaging story about Max and all his friends. There are sweet illustrations and the stories do reinforce good behavior without being super annoying about it.
